Question

Validation Rule BV1020/BV1026 states that the item contract size on the S.08.01/S.08.02 should be positive ({c0180} > 0} There is no filter associated with this validation. However, per guidance and validation BV819/BV1071 only applies to futures and options (CICs ##A#, ##B#,##C#, ##F2). When we run our validations engine, we are getting failures by reporting 0 or --- for CICs ##D#, ##E#. This leads to two questions: • What should we report for CICs where contract size does not apply? Report zero or leave it blank? • Should there be a filter associated with BV1020/BV1026 to only verify a positive value on the applicable CICs, i.e., the same filter that is currently applied to rules BV819/BV1071

EIOPA answer

According to the EIOPA XBRL Filling rules non-applicable facts must not be reported rather than reported as “0” (https://dev.eiopa.europa.eu/Taxonomy/Full/2.8.0/Common/EIOPA_XBRL_Filing_Rules_2.8.0.pdf#page=18). Therefore, EIOPA would expect no value to be reported in column C0180, for CIC codes ‘##D#’ and ‘##E#’.
