Question

What should the CIC code be for a Listed Private Equity Fund, being this a Fund that does not invest directly in Private Equity but invests predominantly in listed equity securities of companies mainly investing in Private Equity, i.e. invests primarily in stock market listed equities, equity certificates, participation certificates, fixed and variable interest securities, convertible bonds or bonds with warrants to securities, issued by issuers that primarily make or manage private equity or private debt? Given that its strategy is associated with Private Equity, should it have CIC 47 (Private Equity Funds - Collective investment undertakings used for making investments in equity securities following strategies associated with private equity)?

EIOPA answer

Based on the description provided in the question, EIOPA confirms that such instruments should be classified with CIC 47. Moreover, as the fund is listed the prefix of the CIC code should be either the country where the fund is listed or XV if it is listed in more countries.
