Question

QRT S.30.03 - C0390 Sliding scale commission: The instruction related to the fixed commission is not clear. In case, the commission is fixed, we assume that the related fields have to filled out as below: - The column C0390 should be filled out with value(2) and the columns(C0400, C0410) should not be reported(empty) and other related columns(C0420, C0430, C0440) have to be reported with the same values. Could you confirm if our statement is correct?

QRT S.30.03 - C0245 Coverage of a layer covered by reinsurance: Based on instructions, the column(C0245) represents the ”Coverage of a layer covered by reinsurance” and it’s the amount of maximum cover for a layer of a treaty. In the case of unlimited cover ‘– 1’ is to be reported. For XL or SL treaties the initial capacity has to be indicated (e.g. annual aggregate limits). In case the treaty only includes one layer, this cell will be equal to C0250. The column(C0250) is not relevant to this column because it shows the number of reinstatement. We assume in such cases(the treaty only includes one layer), the column “C0245” should be equal to column “C0240”. Could you confirm if our statement is correct?

Background of the question

Instructions S.30.03 C0245:The amount of maximum cover for a layer of a treaty. In the case of unlimited cover ‘– 1’ is to be reported. For XL or SL treaties the initial capacity has to be indicated (e.g. annual aggregate limits). In case the treaty only includes one layer, this cell will be equal to C0250.

EIOPA answer

First question: In case of fixed commissions C0390 should be “2 – No", C0400 and C0410 should be empty and C0420, C0430 and C0440 should be equal to the fixed commission amount.

Second question: There is a typo in the LOG file of C0240, which should read: “…In case the treaty only includes one layer, this cell will be equal to C0240". Therefore, EIOPA confirms that in case a XL or SL reinsurance treaty only has one layer, i.e., the are no reinstatements, C0240 and C0245 should be the same.
