Question

• On the latest templates for interim reporting, two fields were added to the D1 form i.e. total par amount and percentage of par SII value. However, these two fields were not included in the explanatory notes accompanying the templates. From the field names, one can deduce the following meaning:

• Total par amount – this is the par value of the bonds (however, the par value would have been included in the quantity field as per the previous templates)

• Percentage of par SII value –Percentage of par value over the SII value (this would have been reported as unit price for bonds)

I would appreciate if you can confirm whether the above definitions are in line with your understanding and if that’s the case, does it mean that the quantity field and unit price field would not be completed for bonds?

EIOPA answer

Those fields result from the separation of quantity (for shares, investment fund, etc.) and par amount invested (for bonds). The separation is due to modelling requirements because quantity will be a number while par amount will be monetary. In order to be properly modelled it needs to be separated, but the requirement is fundamentally the same. This will be reflected in the templates developed for the future Technical Standard.
