EIOPA hires staff with different types of contracts:
- Temporary agents
- Contract agents
- Seconded National Experts
- Traineeship contracts
The type of contract is indicated in the vacancy notice.
Candidates may find a brief description of each contract here below.
Temporary agents
Temporary agent contracts have an initial period of three years, with the possibility of renewal for another three years. In case a second renewal is decided, it will be for an indefinite period.
EIOPA may deviate from the standard contract duration of three years for temporary agents recruited as part of a specific project, depending on the remaining duration of the project.
Temporary agents serve a probationary period of nine months, unless they have already completed a probationary period in the same grade in another EU institution and there is no interruption between contracts.
Temporary agent contracts are classified into two function groups: administrator function group (AD) and assistant function group (AST). Temporary Agents are recruited at the grade set out in the vacancy notice of the relevant selection procedure. They are recruited at the first step in their grade. EIOPA may take into account additional seniority up to a maximum of 24 months (which corresponds to one additional step above step 1) to reflect professional experience in addition to the experience giving access to the selection procedure.
By way of derogation, the authority may recruit as contract agent a successful candidate in a selection of Temporary agents under Article 2(f) of CEOS, if such selection is considered to be appropriate to the duties to be performed.
