Question
Regards the new SE.17.01.17 quarterly variant for ECB Addons for 2.8 and the associated LOG guidance (in the draft business package supporting SII taxonomy 2.8.0): "instructions_for_ecb_add-ons_PWD2". There is a mismatch in the label of rows ER0421 and ER0422 between the taxonomy (Annotated templates) and the guidance. In taxonomy, the labels are: ER0241 > Gross claims paid in the current quarter relating to risks covered before the current reporting period ER0242 > Gross claims paid in the current quarter relating to risks covered in the current reporting period In the guidance, the labels are: ER0241 > Gross claims paid in the current reporting period for claims incurred in the current quarter ER0242 > Gross claims paid in the current reporting period for claims incurred in previous quarters Could EIOPA please clarify: 1. Current period vs current quarter: some might interpret current reporting period to mean year-to-date. Would help if you could clarify (We understand claims paid should be those paid in the current quarter, but it is unclear whether that should be for claims covered in current quarter or claims covered in current year-to-date) 2. Risks covered vs claims incurred: which should be the basis used (to us these mean different things). In the context it seems it should be claims covered by please confirm.
EIOPA answer
EIOPA confirms that mismatch in the label of rows ER0421 and ER0422 between the taxonomy (Annotated templates) and the guidance. The mismatch will be corrected in the 2.8.0 Hotfix as follows:
ER0421 “Gross claims paid in the current financial year relating to claims incurred before the current financial year”
ER0422 “Gross claims paid in the current financial year relating to claims incurred in the current financial year”
