Damian Jaworski is the Executive Director of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) since 1 April 2026. He was elected by EIOPA's Board of Supervisors on 23 October 2025 and confirmed by the European Parliament on 17 December 2025. In his role, he presides over the day-to-day management of EIOPA.
Prior to EIOPA, Damian Jaworski was Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. He joined the Authority in 2009 and held several senior executive positions, being responsible for international cooperation, analyses and regulation.
In this role, he was a member of EIOPA's Board of Supervisors, chaired the Review Panel, was member of EIOPA's Management Board, as well as of the Mediation, Breach of Union Law and Inquiry Panels. He was also actively engaged at international level, acting as representative of the Polish Authority in the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), where he served as member of the Executive Committee, vice chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, as well as regional coordinator for the CEET Region.
Before joining the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, Damian Jaworski spent five years in the Foreign Service, where he worked as financial attaché in the Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU in Brussels.
He started his professional career at the Finance Ministry. In that capacity he coordinated Poland’s EU accession negotiations in the field of financial services.

Declaration of interests
*Ad-hoc declaration of interest:
- In April 2026, Mr. Damian Jaworski declared a potential source of conflict in connection with his prior role as Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) in relation to the PZU Group.
Mitigating measures:
- In May 2026, EIOPA’s Management Board took the view that the situation declared gives rise to a conflict of interest and decided that, for the period of one (1) year, from 1 April 2026 to 1 April 2027, Mr. Damian Jaworski shall recuse himself and abstain from any involvement in matters concerning the PZU Group. This includes refraining from participating in meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes, as well as attempting to influence the handling or outcome of any discussions or proceedings involving said group. He shall have no access to, request, or receive files, documents, correspondence, or internal notes relating to the PZU Group.
