Question
We have a question about our procedure regarding the information in fields C0320 and C0340. We currently report in C0340 (CQS) a value derived from the standard formula, regardless of whether an external issue rating is reported in C0320 because the CQS refers to the SCR calculation and not to field C0320. We base the value on the issuer rating used in the SCR calculations. This applies to all CIC 1,2,5,6,7 and 8. Therefore, we report a value 0 to 6 in C0340 according to the log file even if C0320 is empty. Would you confirm our approach in this way?

Taxonomy 2.7.0, Q&A 2154
EIOPA answer
The “Credit Quality Step” (C0340) should be reported for all investments where the CQS is relevant for SCR calculation purposes even if there is no issue rating available and “External rating” (C0320) is not reported. For more details please see Q&A 2154.
