EIOPA Conference

The EIOPA Conference 2026 marks the 15^th anniversary of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority.

Since its inception, EIOPA has been shaping the landscape of insurance and pensions supervision in Europe, contributing to the stability and sustainable development of these sectors and leaving an enduring imprint on financial stability and on the trust European consumers place in them.

As the Authority enters its next phase, this year’s conference will have a forward-looking perspective. Discussions will spotlight how supervision can continue to deliver tangible benefits in the face of new and evolving challenges.

The event will include the following elements:

Keynote speeches:

• Maria Luís Albuquerque, European Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union
• Aurore Lalucq, MEP, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (video address)
• Klaas Knot, former president of DNB and former chair of the FSB
• Petra Hielkema, Chair, EIOPA

Panel discussions:

The Resilient Consumer: Exploring how consumers – particularly today’s young generation – can be prepared to navigate financial setbacks, with a focus on AI as a point of financial guidance and on how supervisors can adapt to safeguard and empower the next generation.

The Rise of Non-Bank Finance: Implications for Insurers, Pensions, and Supervisors, reviewing the current state of play, risks and vulnerabilities in existing approaches and the way forward for supervisors. 

Sound Supervision for a Strong Insurance and Pensions Sector: Examining how effective, cohesive supervision can strengthen Europe’s insurance and pensions sector, balancing European-wide approaches with national perspectives and driving strategic resilience.

The conference is a day-long event with a planned start time of 09:00 and end time of 17:00. A networking reception will follow the close of the conference.
