Question ID: 907

Regulation Reference: (EU) No 2015/2450 - templates for the submission of information to the supervisory authorities

Article: 35

Template: S.36.01

Status: Final

Date of submission: 16 Dec 2016

Question

Please advise whether or not holdings and transactions within investment funds, that would qualify as participations under the Solvency II rules, are included within the scope of S.36.01.  Holdings within investment funds are a means of gaining exposure to the underlying investments and listing the purchase and sales of fund units on this template would result in a QRT submission of significant size.

EIOPA answer

Instructions clarify that "equity and other capital items including participations in related entities and transfer shares of related entities of the group" should be reported.

In fact, the drafting may create the doubt around CIU that qualify as participations.  EIOPA clarifies that it was not the intention to capture the transactions with CIU as IGTS, even for the ones that will qualify as participation.
