Q&A

Question

Your specifications say:

1) Where the reinsurance treaty provides cover for more than one LoB and the terms of cover differ between LoBs then the treaty needs to be specified over multiple rows. The first row entry for the treaty needs to be entered as “Multiline” that provides details of the overall terms of the treaty (such as deductibles and reinstatements), with the subsequent rows providing details of the individual terms of the reinsurance treaty to each relevant LoB.

We have already issued the following question:

“Our understanding is that in the “Multiline” row we report only the common values through all the lobs, while in each single lob we report all the data (common and not common through the all lobs) i.e. all the fields are filled (if pertinent to the type of treaty). Is this correct ?”

And your answer has been:

We confirm that in S.30.03 field C0070 "Line of business" in case of reinsurance treaty that provides cover for more than one LoB and the terms of cover differ between LoBs you should report the treaty over multiple rows. In the "Multiline" row is to be reported the common values through all the LoBs, while in each single LoB are to be provided details of the individual terms of the reinsurance treaty to each relevant line of business i.e. not all the fields are to be filled.

Just to be sure we have well understood, please confirm the correctness of the following example in respect to the fields that have to be filled in the multiline and in the other rows. There is a treaty with 2 sections as below reported

Treaty        Section        LoB    EPI    Limit    Number of reinstatement

T1        S1        01    100    200        1

T1        S2        02    200    200        3

QRT S.30.03 should be:

C0020        C0030        C0070    C0160    C0210        C0250

Treaty        Section        LoB    EPI    Limit    Number of reinstatement

T1        0        37        200

T1        1        01    100    200        1

T1        2        02    200    200        3

Another question on the matter: if we have the following structure:

Treaty        Section        LoB    EPI    Limit    Number of reinstatement

T1        S1        01    100    200        1

T1        S2        01    200    200        3

a treaty with 2 sections having the same line of business but with different terms of cover. We consider this case as a multiline and report the following QRT. Correct ?

C0020        C0030        C0070    C0160    C0210        C0250

Treaty        Section        LoB    EPI    Limit    Number of reinstatement

T1        0        37        200

T1        1        01    100    200        1

T1        2        01    200    200        3

EIOPA answer

In the first example you don't need to provide the individual limit as it is already provided in the "Multiline" row. In your second example it is not correct to consider a treaty with 2 sections having the same line of business but with different terms of cover as a multiline. Such treaty should be reported in more than one row.
